The historyDougi (piano, lead vocal), David (double bass, backing vocal) and Arve (rhythm guitar, backing vocal) played their first gig in 2009 at a company BBQ event. The melody-focused and energetic show was entusiastically received by an audience consisting of people of all ages. This debut kick-started a series of shows, including several performances in Hotel Van Der Valk in Diegem, at private parties, at a Sinterklaas event, in cafes, etc. The repertoire is ever expanding, the band has developed a tight sound, and everyone can see that the band members really enjoy every minute of each other's company!
Leading man Dougi is a singer-writer living in Erps-Kwerps, and he has been obsessed by music for as long as he can remember. Being a born entertainer, he decided to participate in X-Factor in 2009, where he convinced the jury he's got a remarkable talent. Early 2009 he joined Arve and David in the humoristic country band texmachine as lead and backing singer, kazoo player, yodeller, percussionist and piano player. While involved in two bands, he decided to give it a shot at the preselection for the VTM Clouseau musical "Domino". After having made it to the group of last 20 participants, and gaining valuable experiences, he decided to intensify his musical ambitions as singer, songwriter, musician, live performer and entertainer.more info
Bass player David has a background from a wide variety of bands and genres in his home country Sweden: Pop, hard rock, gospel, reggea, etc. His task in Akoustix is to provide a steady beat with his double bass, and to fill the lower end of the vocal harmonies with his deep pitched voice.more info
Before guitar player and backing vocalist Arve arrived Belgium in the late 90s, he played as a teenager in various Norwegian garage rock bands. The success of his tongue-in-cheek country band "Arve Hjalmars" in the early 90s, inspired him to look for talented musicians in his new home country, Belgium - and to finally establish texmachine in 2008. He also plays the ukulele for Akoustix when the song requires it.more info
